On the 30th of September 2020, the MEETS project – Music in higher Education to dEvelop Transversal Skills – was officially presented at the opening concert of Almo Collegio Borromeo’s 2020/21 musical season. In that occasion, Alberto Lolli, the Rector, and Alessandro Marangoni, the artistic director of Collegio Borromeo, launched officially the project and informed the students and the audience on the importance and prestige of its activities, to be implemented in the next two years together with renowned partners such as the Linköpings Akademiska Orkester (Sweden), the Tallinn University Symphonic Orchestra (Estonia), the Orquestra Filhàrmonica de la Universitat de València (Spain), the European Network of University Orchestras (ENUO – Sweden) and Forte? Fortissimo! (Italy).
Once again, Collegio Borromeo, inspired by its founder San Carlo who saw music as an important and fundamental educational means, is a leader in the education of university students. This time, this mission is implemented through music, as an integral element of the human and professional training of those musicians who sing and play together and who will be the ruling class of the future. “A future – declares the Rector of Borromeo Don Alberto Lolli – which builds “ties”, transnational and cross-cultural bridges, re-proposing beauty and art as cultural mediators, in the excellence of studies”.
